I would like to take this chance to thank everyone that contributed to a very successful United Way year. It has been my pleasure working with the Board, Executive Committee, Campaign Members, and Ralph Varano and his very professional staff over the past 12 months.
Another Banner Year for our campaign! Congratulations and thank you to all that helped make this happen. For the 4th year in a row we have exceeded our overall goals, and for the 6th year in a row the CFC has exceeded its goals. Thank you to Kristen Grunder for leading our 2006 Campaign. Thank you to Ralph for guiding us through this important and challenging yearly event. Also, a thank you to Danielle Smith of the Rome Savings Bank for providing public relations support.
One of the most exciting accomplishments of 2006 has been the completion of the "Standards of Excellence Self-Assessment". We all need to thank Lori Decker for leading the collection and analysis of the results from this survey. The survey tells us much about our United Way and will provide a solid foundation for making improvements and decisions for many years to come. One of the findings from this survey that Lori and Ralph have already acted on is the development of excellent familiarization material for new board members.
Also a special thank you to Vicki Gillen for allowing us to staff and share in the revenues generated from the concession stand at her annual karate tournament. We look forward to supporting this event next year as well.
I look forward to 2007. We have an outstanding group of new and returning board members to help guide the UW program. I am also very excited that we will have strong continuity in membership on our executive committee.
Serving as President for 2006 has been a very learning and enjoyable experience. I am honored and thank you for having this opportunity.
Thomas McGibbon, President
